Color, Color Everywhere

We know—Pantone just named white its 2026 Color of the Year. But the famed color authority might have gotten its paint chips mixed up; experts in the field proclaim 2026 a of color. So long gray, beige, greige and every variation thereof. In 2026, we’re choosing rich jewel tones or rich earth tones, like terra cotta, in matte finishes. This also includes color-drenching and the incorporation of patterns—think stripes, florals, polka dots and more. Not ready to go full Rainbow Brite? Consider accent pieces like pillows, throws, hardware, vases and more.

Art Deco, Updated

According to Pinterest’s 2026 trend report, which is based on users’ behavior on the photo-sharing platform, this retro aesthetic is returning—but with a 2026 twist. Think: chevron stripes, fan arches other geometric shapes, edged in chrome or brass. After years of leaning into minimalism, this trend is bold, glam and just a little eccentric.

“Poet-Core” (a.k.a. “Brontë-Core” or “Dark Academia”)

We attribute this to the upcoming release of Wuthering Heights, Charlotte Brontë’s classic Gothic novel of obsession, revenge, class, love and lust. Think: painterly patterns; writing desks; damask and jacquard fabrics; moody colors; and shelves filled with books and other ephemera. Still, we get the appeal of living in a country estate on the moors of England.

Aged Metals

Want to update your hardware? Pick a finish that will take on a beautiful patina, like unlacquered brass or aged bronze. After all—and our homes—evolve over time. Why shouldn’t our metals?

A Celebration of Craftsmanship

At Metro Cabinet Company, we’re lucky to work hand-in-hand with the talented craftspeople who create custom cabinetry for our clients’ beautiful homes. We’re delighted that celebrating their hard work is a 2026 trend (although we think it should happen every day). Taking time to notice little details—like the grain of a natural wood, or the meticulously designed dovetail joints on a drawer—reminds us to slow down, especially in an era when we’re constantly on the go. Now that’s luxury.

Are you ready to start a dream home project this year? We’d love to be part of it. Contact us here or call (941) 377-8777.
